Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which sauna size is right for me?

The right size depends on how many people will use it regularly, your available indoor or outdoor space, and your electrical setup. Infrared saunas start at one to two person capacity and go up to four people. Our traditional steam and outdoor wood saunas seat up to six. If you are unsure, measure your intended installation area and contact us. We offer complimentary planning consultations before you order.

Do your saunas include red light therapy?

It depends on the product.

The GDI Reserve Edition saunas (Sunrise and Supernova) include near infrared red heat emitters as part of their full spectrum infrared system. Near infrared operates in the wavelength range associated with red light therapy benefits and is a meaningful feature of those two products.

Several Dynamic and Maxxus saunas include interior chromotherapy lighting described as including a red light setting. This is LED color lighting, not a photobiomodulation panel. The wavelengths from a color LED strip are not equivalent to a dedicated red light therapy device and should not be treated as such.

If dedicated red light therapy is a priority for your recovery practice, the GDI Reserve Edition is the product in our catalog most aligned with that use. It can also be used alongside a standalone red light therapy panel before or after your sauna session, a combination that has been widely explored in recovery and performance literature.

What should I prepare before placing my order?

Before ordering, we recommend confirming your available space and delivery access, a flat level foundation appropriate for the product, your electrical supply with a licensed electrician where required, and your plan for unloading the freight shipment on delivery day. Contact us if you would like to walk through a pre-purchase checklist.

Can I cancel or modify my order after placing it?

Cancellation windows are short and vary by manufacturer.

For Golden Designs Inc. products (Dynamic, Maxxus, GDI Reserve Edition, GDI Traditional Steam, Dynamic Cold Therapy), orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase.

For Dundalk LeisureCraft products (Canadian Timber Collection), orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase with a $65 cancellation fee. Orders cannot be cancelled within 7 days of the scheduled ship date.

Contact us immediately at support@recoveryatelier.com if you need to cancel or modify your order.

What happens after I place my order?

After your order is confirmed, the manufacturer prepares and crates your product. You will receive tracking information once it ships. The freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery appointment. On delivery day, inspect the crate before signing and note any visible damage on the Bill of Lading. If you have questions at any stage, contact us directly.

Do your saunas come fully assembled?

No. All saunas ship as ready-to-assemble kits with detailed assembly instructions and all required hardware included. Infrared saunas use a clasp-together panel system and can typically be assembled by two people with basic tools. Traditional steam saunas are larger and we recommend having two to three people available for assembly. Contact us if you would like help planning your installation.

Do I need an electrician?

It depends on the product.

Dynamic and Maxxus infrared saunas run on standard 120V household circuits. One to two person models require a dedicated 15amp circuit. Three and four person models require a dedicated 20amp circuit. No GFCI is required and no electrician is typically needed if a suitable dedicated circuit already exists.

GDI Traditional Steam saunas (Engelberg and Andermatt) require a dedicated 240V circuit installed by a licensed electrician for the Harvia stove, plus a separate 120V/15amp circuit for lighting and audio controls. We recommend scheduling your electrician before your sauna arrives.

The Dynamic Cold Therapy chiller runs on a standard 120V household outlet with GFCI protection built in. No electrician is required.

Dundalk LeisureCraft saunas with the Huum Hive electric heater require a dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician. Failure to use a licensed electrician voids the Dundalk warranty.

What heating system is included with each sauna?

Dynamic and Maxxus infrared saunas use built-in carbon low EMF far infrared heating panels integrated into the sauna walls. No separate heater unit is included.

GDI Reserve Edition saunas use Carbon PureTech near-zero EMF far infrared panels plus near infrared red heat emitters. A Himalayan salt bar is included standard.

GDI Traditional Steam saunas include a Harvia electric stove. The Engelberg includes a Harvia 8KW stove. The Andermatt includes a Harvia 6KW stove.

Dundalk LeisureCraft saunas include the Huum Hive WiFi-enabled electric heater. Heater size varies by model, refer to the individual product page for specifications.

Do the cold plunges include a chiller?

It depends on the product.

The Dundalk LeisureCraft Polar Plunge cold tubs include the Penguin Chiller for active temperature control. Both the stainless steel and HDPE configurations come with the chiller included.

The Dynamic Cold Therapy Barrel Spa is a tub only. The DCT Premier Edition Chiller is sold separately. If you are purchasing the Barrel Spa and need a chiller, contact us and we can help you confirm compatibility and order both together.

How does shipping work?

All orders ship free via curbside freight delivery within the contiguous United States. Your product arrives crated and the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Delivery is made to the end of your driveway or curbside. You are responsible for unloading the crate. If you have questions about truck access or unloading logistics, contact us before your order ships.

How heavy are the crates?

Crates range from approximately 800 to 1,600 lbs depending on the product. For Dundalk LeisureCraft saunas, if your crate is under 92 inches long the freight carrier may have a lift gate available to assist unloading. If the crate is over 92 inches, no lift gate will be available and you will need to arrange your own unloading method. Common solutions include a forklift, tilt tow truck, tractor or skid steer, or a crew of helpers. We recommend arranging your method before your scheduled delivery date.

What wood are the saunas made from?

It depends on the product line.

Dynamic, Maxxus, and GDI Reserve Edition infrared saunas are built from natural reforested Canadian Hemlock.

GDI Traditional Steam saunas feature Pacific Premium Clear Cedar on the exterior and Canadian Red Cedar on the bench and backrest surfaces.

Dundalk LeisureCraft outdoor saunas and cold tubs are built from Eastern White Cedar, naturally rot-resistant, insect-repellent, and aromatic. Left untreated, cedar weathers to a silver-grey patina over time. Applying a UV-protective sealant annually preserves the original tone.

What is the warranty?

Warranty terms vary by product and manufacturer.

Dundalk LeisureCraft saunas carry a 5-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use, covering replacement parts only, beginning on the date of receipt. The Huum Hive electric heater carries a separate 3-year warranty, excluding heating elements, rocks, and sensors. All electrical connections must be made by a licensed electrician or the warranty is void. For all warranty claims, contact RecoveryAtelier at support@recoveryatelier.com or +1 (512) 222-3446. What is your return policy?

Return and cancellation terms vary by manufacturer. Please refer to our full Return and Refund Policy for complete details. If any components arrive damaged, replacement parts will be provided at no cost when properly documented at the time of delivery. Inspect your shipment carefully before signing the Bill of Lading.

Do I need a foundation or base?

A flat, level surface is required. Concrete pads, gravel beds, or treated wood decks all work well. Avoid placing directly on grass or bare soil. Contact us if you have questions about site preparation for your specific model.

Can I use my sauna year-round?

Yes. All saunas in our catalog are designed for year-round use. Dundalk LeisureCraft saunas are handcrafted in Canada and built for outdoor use across a range of climates. Indoor infrared and steam saunas are intended for climate-controlled environments.
